About Us

The Greenhouse Business Centre was built in 2006 to be the first eco-building in County Durham.  It was the brainchild of Kate Culverhouse, who was the CEO of Groundwork North East and Cumbria at that time.  She wanted a building that was the perfect fit for their ethos and also generated funds to the charity. After a successful few years she headed up a second project and opened The Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Centre another eco-building situated on the Derwent Walk, providing a much welcomed café to walkers and cyclist and anyone else partial to good food from local producers.

The Greenhouse is ideally located just 10 miles from Durham City Centre and 15 miles from Newcastle, we offer high quality office space as well as meeting and conference facilities, withing a unique, eco-friendly professional environment.

We are ideally suited for small to medium size enterprises looking for a place to grow. We can provide:

The Greenhouse is part of the trading arm of Groundwork North East and Cumbria, joining us as a tenant or by hiring a meeting room you are helping support a local charity committed to Community and Environmental projects.
