PRAISE FOR TEES TALENT AS MCD SYSTEMS EXPANDS
A digital services and software company, rapidly establishing itself as a Teesside success story, has moved into larger offices at UKSE’s Innovation Centre in Redcar to house its growing team.
MCD Systems Ltd, founded in 2017 by Lyle McCalmont, provides a wide range of services to an increasing number of local and national businesses. They include RelyOn Nutec, a Danish company with a presence on Teesside and NorthStandard, a leading global marine insurer.
The company designs and engineers digital products from global learning management systems to custom mobile and web applications. It prides itself on its innovation and the wide technical expertise that enables them to tackle complex challenges and develop digital initiatives.
Software has been developed for projects that range from maritime applications to support evidence recording and awareness to industrial services tools that enable students and instructors to learn as well as apps that configure software for lifesaving Bluetooth devices.
“We recognise that our clients face challenging times and that we are also operating in a fast-moving technical landscape,” said Lyle McCalmont. “Our aim is to understand our partners business and their challenges then work closely with them to meet objectives such as improving efficiency, revenue, operations and brand awareness.”
Lyle, a graduate of Teesside University who had his sights set on owning his own business right from his schooldays, launched MCD Systems after working in development and technical management with global companies in maritime, health, oil and gas, leisure and travel.
“I am really proud of my home area and of the talent that there is available here within our sector,” he said. “I want MCD to create jobs that will help keep that talent in our region. We have just moved into our third office at the Innovation Centre as we need more space to meet the growing demand from across the UK and beyond. We are currently recruiting to add to our team and are always keen to hear from talented people with a passion for digital technology.
“The Innovation Centre was recommended to me by an existing tenant and has proved to be an ideal business home. The facilities are excellent and the UKSE team is very supportive, finding us additional office space each time we needed it.”
Diane Parker of UKSE said: “MCD Systems has been with us for a couple of years now and, having started out in one of our smallest offices, has twice moved into larger ones. UKSE’s remit is to support growing businesses with workspace as well as investments and we are always delighted to see companies such as MCD Systems grow successfully and create jobs.”
