Designing a future for the next generation of tech
Big Bite, an enterprise WordPress agency, have recently been involved in a number of local projects to help boost the confidence and skills of young people and better prepare them for the world of work.
Supporting a number of work experience initiatives over recent weeks, they aim to inspire the next generation of school leavers to identify their strengths, motivations, and interests when it comes to career choices.
Earlier this month, the Big Bite team welcomed a group of students to the office as part of High Tide Foundation’s Business Week, providing a glimpse into the world of web development and its potential as a future career path. Students toured the offices, chatted with our engineers and learnt some basic aspects of coding, which were impressively picked up with ease!
The Big Bite visit was a small part of the High Tide Business Week, which connected students to a number of employers including Better Brand Agency, AV Dawson and Jackson’s Law Firm.
Often students have no idea about the world of opportunity on their doorstep so visiting business, seeing how they work, what they do and meeting the team behind the job roles really can make a massive difference. It’s not just about raising awareness and career paths, it’s about creating connections, meeting role models and understanding that these amazing local opportunities really are open to them. For many students, it gives them confidence, belief and ambition, and that can be life-changing.

As an additional project, Big Bite also welcomed three students from Rye Hills Academy for an in-depth week of industry insight, tasking them with hands-on projects from day one, such as building example websites using HTML and CSS.
