Eating Distress North East’s Big Move

Regional charity Eating Distress North East has been supporting people with eating disorders and distress for over 30 years.

To meet increasing need for services, they’re taking part in the Big Give’s match fundraising campaign from 15-22 May during Mental Health Awareness Week.

Every donation made during the week will be doubled for twice the impact. All funds will go towards moving premises which will allow Eating Distress North East to see more people in their counselling service.

Around 1.25 million people in the UK have an eating disorder. Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions; anorexia has a higher mortality rate than any other mental health disorder. The average duration of an eating disorder is 7-10 years but early identification and intervention can drastically improve the chances of a full recovery.
