Safeguarding the education sector against phishing attacks

Phishing attacks have become a prevalent threat to the education sector and it is crucial we remain vigilant to protect sensitive information your establishment may hold and also maintain a secure digital environment.

Phishing attacks involve cyber criminals impersonating trusted individuals or organisations, attempting to deceive unsuspecting users into divulging confidential information. These types of attacks can result in severe consequences, including unauthorised access to systems, data breaches or financial loss.

To safeguard schools, colleges and universities etc against phishing attacks, as well as other cyber threats, there are a variety of free services we offer to staff and pupils. Cyber incidents more often that not occur “out of the blue” so the proactive services and support we can offer will not only help improve your cyber resilience but also help you understand how to navigate through an incident if the worst was to happen. One of the questions we pose to organisations when assisting them with their cyber resilience is “How would you be able to operate if you were offline?” and this is a question we can explore in more detail with staff at all levels to help you identify what protective measures you currently have in place but also potentially identify any areas of improvement if you were to find that all of a sudden your access to technology became inaccessible.
