With Black Friday fast approaching, Northumberland Wildlife Trust is getting ready to turn black into green with its Super Sale Weekend.

Running for four days from Friday 29th November until midnight on 2nd December, the wildlife charity will be offering members of the public the chance to snap up lots of wonderful bargains via its online shop www.nwt.org.uk/shop

In addition to four packs of Christmas cards for the price of three, the wildlife charity is also offering a number of special online shop deals and bundles of books to enhance wildlife watching throughout the whole of next year.

And, better still, anybody spending over £30 via the online shop (excluding postage) during that time will receive a set of four Wild About Gardens booklets on fascinating wildlife themes ranging from garden ponds, lawns, and beetles to swallows, worms and much more besides.

Many shoppers jump on the Black Friday bandwagon only to regret their purchases later on.

Each year, the UK spends £700 million on unwanted Christmas gifts. Consumers throw away approximately £42 million of unwanted presents each year (most end up in landfill). Of all purchases made in the UK for Christmas, only 1% will still be used six months after the big day.

For anyone wishing to buy a gift of membership this Christmas, as well as a wonderful welcome pack, the wildlife charity has included some bee-autiful extras. The lucky recipient will be able to turn their green space into a mini haven for wildlife with help from a booklet about bees, a beautiful bee bookmark and a packet of seeds containing mixtures to attract pollinators to any garden, back yard, or window box.

The Trust’s animal adoptions are as popular as ever and with a red squirrel, owl, or hedgehog to choose from it is a perfect gift for the person who has everything. All adoptions are digital, making it the perfect environmentally friendly present. Visit www.nwt.org.uk/support-us/adopt-animal for more details.

And, for the smartly dressed, the Trust is launching its new range of clothing and merchandise available from https://nwt.teemill.com/ With men’s, women’s and kid’s T shirts and hoodies to pick from, together with a range of accessories and mugs, there is something to put a smile on everybody’s face throughout 2025.

As more and more people are turning to nature for their health and wellbeing, the wildlife charity is busier than ever, ensuring its seventy sites across the region are kept in pristine condition, so any money raised from the sale will give the Trust a much need cash boost.

Martin Pickup, Northumberland Wildlife Trust Marketing Officer says:

“Over the past couple of years, nature has become much more important to everybody’s health and wellbeing, which, although great to hear, does mean our conservation efforts have more than doubled.

“All the merchandise we sell is environmentally friendly and sustainably sourced with all profits going towards protecting the region’s wildlife and wild places, so your gift will be not only for friends and family but will ensure that nature will be enjoyed by future generations.”
